About The Position

P&H Milling is seeking a Lab Technician to conduct laboratory testing and analysis, document results, and ensure compliance with quality standards and product specifications. The role supports the Quality Assurance team through testing, inspections, documentation, research and development activities, and coordination with the QA Manager and other departments. The position is based in Springbrook, Alberta, within P&H Milling.

Requirements

A degree or diploma in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field, or equivalent training and experience.
Basic knowledge of CFIA, SFCR, and GFSI requirements.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Ability to stand for long hours, walk, and climb stairs.
Ability to lift up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) when required.
Flexibility to work occasional overtime and weekends if required.

Responsibilities

Conduct wheat and flour testing to ensure quality and safety meet specifications.
Verify in-process testing results from Process Operators.
Monitor product quality, troubleshoot issues, and apply corrective actions.
Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
Issue customer documents, including Certificates of Analysis and Product Specifications.
Prepare and submit samples for external laboratory testing and maintain control sample records.
Ensure documentation complies with company policies and procedures.
Report testing results to the QA Manager and relevant staff.
Support quality program maintenance, including reviews, updates, and corrective actions.
Maintain the Supplier Approval program.
Assist with third-party audits.
Collaborate with Production and Office Staff on analysis and documentation.
Assist with traceability exercises, mock recalls, audits, and customer inquiries.
