About The Position

California Faucets is looking to bring on a Lab Technician. This role is based on site in our Huntington Beach, CA facility. The hours for this position will be Monday through Friday, full-time from 08:00 AM to 4:45 PM. The Lab Technician serves as a collaborative member of the Finishing team and supports the departmental initiatives aimed at implementing solutions which improve quality, safety, efficiency, and productivity in the manufacturing environment. This person is a highly motivated self-starter who can prioritize and take ownership of tasks. They are collaborative in their approach to the operations team and excited to be “hands-on” in solving production related issues. In this role, the Lab Technician will be responsible for managing day-to-day operation of the Finishing Lab to include, but not limited to: Ensure smooth and efficient operation of the laboratory, including maintaining equipment, instruments, and facilities. Develop and implement laboratory policies and procedures. Maintain accurate records and documentation of testing, procedures, and results. Maintain the Chemical Inventory, update the inventory as needed, and confirm the laboratory/storage inventory as required. Perform daily laboratory operations such as Analytical Testing of Processing Solutions, and Physical Testing for metal finishing to evaluate the performance and durability of finished metal surfaces. These tests ensure that coatings meet specific requirements, such as adhesion strength, hardness, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance. Accurately report chemical analysis and tests to Finishing Manager and Supervisors. Make all chemical additions and bath make-ups Keep accurate up to date records regarding current baths on the production floor. Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on most lab equipment, chemical controllers, pumps, and other lab related equipment. Interacts with vendors and visitors Perform lab inventory and identify chemicals and equipment needed to order Assists in writing departmental instructions and procedures Ability to effectively run all equipment in department Follow all safety measures when handling chemicals and hazardous waste with regard to use, mixing and disposing chemicals Mains a safe, neat and orderly workplace Use all required Personal Protective Equipment Performs additional assignments per management direction. Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English to the degree necessary to perform the job
  • Excellent knowledge of process chemistry
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a production environment with unusual conditions with constant changes in temperature, wetness, different levels of noise, fumes, irritants, and gases from chemicals
  • Ability to assess concentrations in tanks and mathematically determine appropriate additions and enter them into the computer
  • Ability to read and understand SDS
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge of data entry, Word and Excel
  • Work as a team player and/or independently as required
  • Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot equipment (colorimeter/spectrophotometer) issues, and solve problems.
  • Proficiency in laboratory and testing techniques, equipment, and data analysis.
  • Working knowledge in manufacturing and quality processes and procedures
  • Should be familiar with electroplating processes.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to work with their hands and to work in mechanically oriented situations.
  • Occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Ability to walk to all areas of the building and grounds, including maneuvering around equipment to evaluate processes and operation.
  • Ability to bend and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to use power and manual tools in the execution of his/her daily duties.
  • Must be able to communicate orally and in writing, able to work under pressure, manage stress, and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to file, write, type, operate a computer, use a telephone, and operate other office equipment.
