Lab Technician

About The Position

The Lab Technician prepares and tests plant and loadout samples to support consistent product quality and plant operations. The role uses laboratory methods and instruments including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Camsizer, and flame photometry. Work includes sample preparation and testing, accurately entering and reporting results in electronic systems, and checking, cleaning, calibrating, and maintaining laboratory instruments. The position works rotating 12-hour day and night shifts, with the schedule subject to change. The job involves physical activity, including frequent standing and walking, lifting or moving loads up to 50 pounds, climbing stairs and ladders, and potentially working at heights.

Requirements

Strong attention to detail and sound critical-thinking skills.
Ability to follow laboratory procedures and document results accurately.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to frequently walk and stand, and perform work involving sitting, talking, hearing, visual inspection, color differentiation, precise hand and finger movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and grasping.
Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds; climb stairs and ladders; potentially work at heights; wear required PPE; and perform strenuous physical activity.

Responsibilities

Split and prepare plant and loadout samples for analysis using XRD, Camsizer, flame photometry, and other laboratory methods.
Prepare and test samples, including drying, particle-size analysis, XRD, and insolubles analysis.
Accurately enter, analyze, and report test results in electronic systems to support product quality and plant operations.
Verify laboratory instrument function through routine testing and calibration checks, and clean and maintain instruments.
