About The Position

The Lab Technician works on Miraterra’s Soil Analysis Production team, supporting a high-throughput soil-processing workflow. The role involves preparing soil slurry, sub-sampling for different measurements, maintaining clean and organized tools and workspaces, and managing sample and material inventory to help meet deadlines. The technician works collaboratively with specialists in agriculture, analytics, microbiome, and molecular biology and reports directly to and works closely with the Lab Supervisor. This is a full-time, seasonal, fixed-term position based onsite at Miraterra’s lab in Ames, Iowa.

Requirements

• Proficiency in pipetting.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Punctuality and reliability.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask comfortably.
• Ability to maintain an organized and clean workspace.
• Ability to stand for long periods, up to 10 hours per day.
• Comfort working in a noisy environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with lab automation and LIMS.
• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Chemistry.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-throughput processing and preparation of soil samples.
• Process soil samples according to customer order requests and in a timely manner.
• Ensure the integrity of samples.
• Clean and maintain equipment, including pipettes, other tools, and the workstation.
• Comply with Trace safety and company practices.
• Perform other duties as needed.
