About The Position

Central Ozarks Medical Center (COMC) is seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to join their team. This role is crucial in ensuring the quality and efficiency of laboratory services, adhering to the Health Care Plan and Quality Assurance Plan. The Lab Technician will provide courteous service to patients, collect and prepare blood samples, maintain laboratory and radiology areas, manage inventory of supplies, and assist with specimen collection and labeling. The position requires comfort with computer hardware and software, a strong motivation to serve patients, discipline to adhere to medical standards, and effective communication skills for handling medical records and lab procedures. CPR/BLS certification is required, or must be obtained during the probationary period.

Requirements

  • Must be comfortable using computer hardware and software as well as computerized equipment.
  • Must be motivated to serve the needs of patients and perform services to benefit people and Central Ozarks Medical Center.
  • Must possess a sense of discipline to work in accordance with accepted medical standards.
  • Must possess reading and verbal skills necessary to understand and communicate, regarding medical records and laboratory procedures.
  • Must be CPR/BLS certified or become certified during probationary period and maintain certification throughout employment with COMC.
  • GED or High School diploma.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret and communicate lab testing.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of fundamental math, adding machine, calculator, and Microsoft office.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Be aware of and comply with the required services and data, according to the Health Care Plan and the Quality Assurance Plan of Central Ozarks Medical Center.
  • Provide courteous service to all patients.
  • Collect and prepare blood samples for inspection.
  • Assist in maintaining the laboratory and radiology areas in proper condition.
  • Assist in maintaining an inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies and prepare purchase requisitions for needed supplies.
  • Assist in recording information, collecting specimens, and labeling specimens for identification.
  • Travel to all COMC locations may be required.
  • Follow all safety rules and work in a safe manner.
  • Produce an acceptable amount of work, of sufficient quality in an appropriate amount of time.
