Lab Technician Intern
About The Position
The Lab Technician Intern supports automotive performance fluid validation using analytical test methods to assist R&D formulation development and quality control of existing fluids. The intern prepares samples for analytical evaluation and supports the quality team with analytical problem-solving and root cause analysis at manufacturing sites. The role also maintains laboratory consumable supplies and promotes proper safety practices and good housekeeping. The intern works directly with chemists and engineers, who train and supervise the student on standard operating procedures.
Requirements
- Must be majoring in a science field with an interest in analytical chemistry, such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
- Must have completed at least one year of college chemistry and mathematics.
- Detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and a self-starter mindset.
- Good time-management skills and ability to work on varying tasks simultaneously.
- Good work ethic; reliable, punctual, and enthusiastic about learning new skills.
- Able to take initiative, ask for clarity or additional instruction when needed, and work independently as well as cooperatively with the team.
Responsibilities
- Check and restock consumable laboratory supplies.
- Log samples and update the materials database.
- Calibrate and maintain equipment.
- Prepare samples and perform basic analysis, including washing, measuring, filtering, and pH testing.
- Set up and run samples on instruments including ICP, UV-Vis, HPLC, IC, and GC-MS.
- Process sample data and interpret results.
- Support analytical problem-solving and root cause analysis for the quality team at manufacturing sites.
- Promote proper safety practices and good housekeeping.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
