About The Position

As a Laboratory Associate or Technician II, you’ll play a key role in supporting our high-complexity clinical genomics laboratory by performing essential pre-analytical and analytical support functions under the supervision of licensed testing personnel. You’ll help ensure accurate sample handling, preparation, and processing to maintain the integrity of specimens used in clinical testing and research. The position contributes to MyOme’s mission to deliver precision-health insights by maintaining operational excellence, supporting validated workflows, and adhering to CLIA, CAP, and NYS-CLEP quality standards. This position is ideal for someone detail-oriented, organized, eager to learn, and excited to grow in a regulated, fast-paced laboratory setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, biotechnology, or a related discipline is required.
  • 0 - 3 years of hands-on experience in a clinical, academic, or research laboratory setting (NGS or molecular experience preferred).
  • Strong understanding of basic molecular biology techniques (pipetting accuracy, nucleic acid handling, reagent preparation).
  • Familiarity with CLIA/CAP-regulated environments and laboratory documentation.
  • Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or electronic recordkeeping (preferred).
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and adherence to SOPs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to take direction and seek clarification when needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive laboratory tasks safely.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, verify, and accession biological specimens according to SOPs and quality standards.
  • Perform pre-analytical activities such as labeling, aliquoting, nucleic acid extraction setup, reagent preparation, and sample storage.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments (centrifuges, pipettes, extraction platforms, etc.) following established maintenance schedules and documentation practices.
  • Support licensed testing personnel with test setup, reagent preparation, and workflow staging while maintaining the chain of custody and traceability.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and legible documentation of all laboratory activities in accordance with CAP/CLIA/NYS requirements.
  • Monitor routine laboratory housekeeping, inventory control, and environmental monitoring to ensure readiness for inspections.
  • Follow biosafety, chemical safety, and waste-management protocols to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Contribute to validation studies and quality control activities under supervision, contributing data and documentation.
  • Communicate proactively about equipment malfunctions, deviations, or procedural issues promptly to the General Supervisor or Laboratory Director.
  • Participate in ongoing training, competency assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain compliance and efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support goals and objectives of the department as well as the company.
