About The Position
The Lab technician will assist Ph.D. Chemists in executing project related work in the areas of pilot batching, laboratory testing, product/process trials. The Lab technician will also be responsible for the operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of pilot lab equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma / GED required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Quality control lab and/or a Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design of experiments, conduct those experiments.
- Collect, summarize and present the resulting data.
- Prepare hydrogenation reactions in 1” or 3” reactor according to appropriate protocols
- Pack catalyst, assemble reactor unit, Pressure and leak testing reactor.
- Execute hydrogenation reaction and record raw data results consistent with good record keeping procedure.
- Communicate with shift chemist to help monitor reactor and catch sample for testing at night.
- Pre-batch and post-batch activities in the pilot batch manufacture (cleaning, equipment set up).
- Prepare polymerization reactor according to Ph.D. chemist’s instruction.
- Assist Ph.D. chemist to synthesize different polymers at various conditions.
- Test and analyze the pilot reactor samples and produce research experimental results.
- Preventative maintenance on pilot lab equipment.
- Assembling and configuring of pilot scale equipment and control systems utilizing a variety of techniques.
- Maintaining proper housekeeping standards to ensure a safe working environment in the labs.
- Follow safety operation procedures required by Trecora Chemical.
- Other duties as assigned.
