About The Position

The Lab Technician I will work in the Carpenter Lab performing cell culture, supervising undergraduate research, assisting with training students, and maintaining reagents. This position is a grant funded position.

Requirements

Master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology or biological sciences from an accredited educational institution.
1-3 years of work-related experience.
1 year work experience in a post-bachelor’s laboratory setting.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in pharmacology and toxicology or biochemistry from an accredited educational institution.
One year of work in a research laboratory setting.
1 year of training in a post bachelor’s thesis-track educational setting.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.

Responsibilities

Perform research on funded research aims as designated by Dr. Carpenter, including cell culture, reagent isolation, characterization, and production of publication quality figures.
Log all research activities and manage data for sharing according to NIH data management and sharing protocols.
Assist Dr. Carpenter in mentoring undergraduate research activities in the lab, including cell culture maintenance and re-training students on experiments.
Supervise undergraduates when Dr. Carpenter cannot be present.
Manage reagents and inventory, including preparing aliquots, preparing and autoclaving solutions, and maintaining lab inventory logs.
Complete other duties as assigned.
