About The Position

The Lab Technician I will work in the Carpenter Lab performing cell culture, supervising undergraduate research, assisting with training students, and maintaining reagents. This position is a grant funded position.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology or biological sciences from an accredited educational institution.
  • 1-3 years of work-related experience.
  • 1 year work experience in a post-bachelor’s laboratory setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in pharmacology and toxicology or biochemistry from an accredited educational institution.
  • One year of work in a research laboratory setting.
  • 1 year of training in a post bachelor’s thesis-track educational setting.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.

Responsibilities

  • Perform research on funded research aims as designated by Dr. Carpenter, including cell culture, reagent isolation, characterization, and production of publication quality figures.
  • Log all research activities and manage data for sharing according to NIH data management and sharing protocols.
  • Assist Dr. Carpenter in mentoring undergraduate research activities in the lab, including cell culture maintenance and re-training students on experiments.
  • Supervise undergraduates when Dr. Carpenter cannot be present.
  • Manage reagents and inventory, including preparing aliquots, preparing and autoclaving solutions, and maintaining lab inventory logs.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
