About The Position

This is a temporary, full-time, onsite, Lab Tech 1 position located in Smyrna, GA, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Pace® is committed to making the world a safer, healthier place through innovative practices that drive sustainability and empower partners with accurate quality data. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills, contribute to meaningful scientific work, and build a career in environmental science. The Lab Technician will work in the west chemistry department of an environmental testing laboratory and receive training for the role.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work in a lab or office setting
• Ability to remain standing for long periods while conducting tests
• Ability to work around strong smells
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment while handling samples (lab coat, safety glasses, gloves — all provided by Pace®)
• Mobility to work in a lab and office setting
• Ability to use standard office and lab equipment
• Stamina to sit for extended periods of time
• Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects
• Vision to read printed materials and computer screens
• Hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a laboratory or environmental testing setting is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Support our Scientists by preparing water and soil samples prior to analysis
• Follow a variety of established sample preparation procedures
• Work with various solvents and chemicals for the preparation of samples
• Maintain and update appropriate documentation and databases
