About The Position

Ortonville Area Health Services Lab Department is seeking a MLT to join our Lab team. The MLT performs clinical tests in any one or combination of areas of specialization, approved by the Director of Laboratory Services, used for the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The candidate will perform testing in all areas of the laboratory including Phlebotomy, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Serology, Chemistry, Molecular, and Blood Banking. The MLT will maintain the integrity of test results and continuity of technique from one testing area of the department to another and determine the source of the problem when test validity is in question. The overnight lab tech works independently to collect, prepare, and analyze patient samples, focusing on STAT ER and inpatient labs. Key duties include running diagnostic analyzers, performing quality control, checking inventory, quality audits, confirming orders for the daily Outpatient schedule, obtaining early morning labs on inpatients and releasing those results to the chart.

Requirements

  • Responsible, reliable, self-motivated, able to work independently, and have excellent people skills.
  • Possess a current MLT certification or be able to achieve certification within 90 days of start date.
  • Phlebotomy Skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical Laboratory experience is highly preferred.
