About The Position
The Laboratory Technical Support Specialist is a multi-skilled position that efficiently processes patient and specimen workflow to support the Laboratory's commitment to provide accurate, reliable, and timely information to clinicians. The Laboratory Technical Support Specialist (TSS) provides professional, courteous, and competent phlebotomy and/or clerical services for Hospital inpatients, outpatients, physicians, nursing staff, and support services.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months phlebotomy experience in hospital setting
- Must speak, read, and write sufficient English for patient care and customer service activities.
- Basic PC based knowledge required
- California Phlebotomy Certification (CPT 1)
Nice To Haves
- Venipuncture for all ages and neonatal capillary collection preferred.
- Minimum one year Laboratory TSS equivalent experience during past 3 years preferred.
- Experience with networked environments and medical-clinical applications preferred.
- Possess manual dexterity and ability to learn new procedures and updates within a specified time frame.
- Minimum one year experience specimen accessioning, processing, packaging for transport and registration preferred.
