McCormick is looking to hire a Lab Technician II immediately at their Technical Innovation Center in Hunt Valley, Maryland. This role involves efficiently and accurately compounding seasoning, marinade, topical, coating, or condiment formulations. The technician will apply these formulations to key model systems such as fried and grilled chicken and other base proteins, topical seasonings, and full sandwich builds, requiring working knowledge of key restaurant equipment. The position also involves supporting iterative development sessions, setting up Edesia cuttings, conducting shelf-life reviews, managing workload, coordinating activities, anticipating requirements, and planning raw material sourcing to ensure timely completion of work. The technician will provide feedback to developers on the performance of dry blends and condiments, troubleshoot issues like dustiness, clumping, or separation, and run basic analyses on finished dry blends (bulk density, flow tests, pH, particle size). Additionally, the role requires attending FTO meetings, preparing retain samples, understanding formula and processing instructions, communicating with developers and plant personnel, and supporting commercialization processes. The technician must be adaptable to rapidly changing priorities and multiple tasks, able to take direction, maintain an organized and clean work area, adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), use Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), and follow basic housekeeping. They will also organize and maintain raw materials in the lab using computerized inventory management systems and ensure shelf-life expectations are met.
