About The Position

iC42 Toxicology Lab combines quantitative mass spectrometry (drugs, drug metabolites, endogenous compounds and large molecules), metabolomics (LC-MS, GC-MS and magnetic resonance spectroscopy-based) and proteomics under one roof which makes it a very unique facility. iC42 Toxicology is compliant with the rules of good laboratory practice (cGLP, 21 CFR part 58), is accredited by the College of American Pathologists and CLIA certified. Accordingly, all assays are validated and all analyses are carried out following our standard operating procedures, which are based on all applicable CAP, CLSI, ICH, OECD and FDA guidelines. Lab Personnel are responsible for receiving, preparation and analysis of human biospecimen samples for patient drug testing for clinics, such as the Addiction Research Treatment Services Clinic. These samples must be processed and validated within a 24-48 hour timeframe. The only patient information they have access to are the patient name, date of birth, sex, diagnostic code, and test results.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience working in a laboratory setting.
  • A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position equal to two (2) years.
  • Proficient knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology
  • Ability to operate the HPLC-MS/MS system, Indiko Plus Urine analyzer, Hamilton Robotic Liquid Handler.
  • Must be able to operate in a safe manner in a laboratory environment (chemical safety) while ensuring patient data are protected.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or higher earned degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field.
  • Prior experience working with mass spectrometry.
  • Two (2) years of experience or background in an experimental or wet laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis of clinical toxicology samples (LC-MS/MS).
  • Sample receipt and management, including handling of leaking samples, clean up and hygiene.
  • Sample preparation; perform manual extraction on test tudes following written SOPs.
  • LC-MS/MS instrument preparation, tuning and maintenance.
  • INDIKO clinical analyzer operation, calibration and samples analysis.
  • Maintenance of a CAP and CLIA compliant clinical laboratory environment.
  • Order and ship supplies, maintain sufficient stock supplies, perform weekly and monthly checklists, and perform other duties as assigned.
