About The Position

The Lab Tech 2 receives and/or processes specimens and performs clerical checks and support functions. The role may also perform phlebotomy. It conducts routine laboratory procedures where the range of possible errors is limited and prepares specimens, materials, and equipment for Medical Technologists to perform testing.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Less than one year of experience.
• Phlebotomy skills for all age groups.
• Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions.
• Skill in using computers and related software applications.
• Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Sort, label, and record patient specimens.
• Set up specimens, materials, and equipment in preparation for Medical Technologists to perform tests.
• Operate centrifuges, simplex timers, cell washers, and other laboratory equipment to complete assigned duties.
• Maintain an appropriate inventory of supplies.
• Maintain effective communication and working relationships with laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
• Participate in laboratory projects and educational activities.
• Perform clerical checks and support functions; receive and/or process specimens.
• May perform phlebotomy.
