About The Position

The Lab Tech 2 works in the Analytical Lab at the Metallurgical Complex in Columbus, Montana. The role prepares representative samples for chemical analysis, performs inorganic chemical analyses involving precious and base metals, and uses computers to calculate and report results and complete other computer work. The schedule is rotating Super 7, with day shifts from 5:30 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. and night shifts from 3:30 p.m. to 2:40 a.m.

Requirements

• Analytical laboratory experience.
• Equivalent skills to meet the task proficiency matrix.
• Computer literacy; experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Successful completion of the Analytical Laboratory Aptitude Test.

• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples by filtering slurries, drying, crushing, pulverizing, and splitting them to provide representative samples for chemical analysis.
• Prepare samples from concentrator slurries, geological channel and drill cores, and smelter and refinery materials.
• Perform chemical analyses using fire assay, wet chemical digestion, X-ray analysis, and instrumentation spectrometry.
• Use computers to calculate and report results and perform other computer work.
