About The Position

Perform laboratory functions to include analytical and physical testing to ensure that all processes carried out are within the parameters set by our customer's and third party auditing entities. Create monthly lab orders for physical testing, scribe/create metal specimens for testing, and track both physical and analytical tests to ensure they are performed within the required time frame. Perform various analytical and physical tests, create test reports, and handle clerical duties related to lab documentation. Review testing records and monitor tank temperatures to ensure compliance with specifications. Communicate issues with shop personnel and handle glassware for analytical testing. Operate and maintain corrosion resistance/salt spray chambers, and adhere to all safety procedures.

  • Knowledge of all safety procedures and use of personal protective equipment, first aid kits, eye wash stations, and other safety devices.
  • Must meet ITAR requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analytical and physical testing.
  • Create monthly lab orders for physical testing.
  • Scribe and create metal specimens for testing.
  • Track physical and analytical tests to ensure timely completion.
  • Perform corrosion testing, paint adhesion, powder test, plating adhesion, abrasion resistance, coating weight tests, cleaner weight loss, intragranular attack & end-grain pitting, metal removal tests, hydrogen embrittlement tensile tests, impact tests, hydrogen pick-up, Atomic Absorption elemental analysis, potentiometric titrations, acid-base titrations, gravimetric analysis, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer operation and testing, pH analysis, conductivity, and resistivity testing.
  • Create test reports outlining testing procedures and results.
  • Perform clerical duties to file lab orders, test certs, chemical certificates of analysis, metal specimen certificates of analysis, and purchase orders.
  • Review testing records/logs for accuracy and compliance with limits.
  • Review and monitor tank temperature recording program.
  • Tag out process tanks when necessary.
  • Communicate with shop personnel regarding issues with tanks, test specimens, or bath operations.
  • Handle glassware for analytical testing and perform proper cleaning procedures.
  • Operate corrosion resistance/salt spray chamber and perform minor maintenance.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and use personal protective equipment.
