Effective communication with nursing and unit staff is essential for relaying information concerning patient collections. Responsibilities also include collecting, processing, and distributing lab specimens, aiding in specimen preparation for analysis, and potentially assisting with routine technical procedures. The role involves preparing blood components, performing diverse clerical duties such as order processing, report filing, patient billing, data retrieval, test cancellation, and problem-solving. Communication with clients and staff regarding test orders, collection information, problem-solving, referrals, and test results is also a key function. Additionally, the position contributes to maintaining section safety, cleanliness, quality control, and general supply inventory levels.
