About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Support Services Supervisor to join our team in Itasca, IL. This role involves supervising the day-to-day operations of non-technical staff in the accessioning department, assisting with specimen preparation, and directly supervising, training, and mentoring personnel. The supervisor will monitor daily workflow, schedule coverage, resolve production errors, and engage in continuous process improvements. Quality assurance checks, record maintenance, and regular meetings with direct reports for coaching and feedback are also key responsibilities. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years or more of experience

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree
  • 6 months or more of experience in a clinical laboratory
  • 6 months or more supervising or leading a team
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
  • Strong computer skills; Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day to day operations of the non-technical staff for the accessioning department
  • Assist with preparation of laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
  • Directly supervise, train, and mentor non-technical personnel of the department
  • Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate coverage
  • Responsible for ensuring all shifts in the department are properly staffed
  • Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary
  • Engage in continuous process and service level improvements
  • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure efficiency and accuracy
  • Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents
  • Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development
  • Responsible for administering and managing policies and procedures
