This role is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), supporting Blue Origin’s mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. The team fosters innovation and drives engineering workflows of the future, shared solutions and standards, simplicity and lower costs, and manufacturable design. Provides technical support to development and engineering by performing activities such as test, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electro/mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices or specialized test equipment. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions. Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assists in determining actions to remedy malfunctions. Assists in the construction, test and check-out of test equipment. Uses manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, you will directly support Blue Origin teams working to develop new, state-of-the-art technologies and systems needed to advance human spaceflight. Responsibilities include general fabrication, maintenance, and operation of mechanical systems where you will apply your technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to support emerging projects, systems, and critical infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in a mechanical, electrical or manufacturing field.
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace or related fields
  • Experience with pressurized system safety.
  • Ability to read and understand 2D/3D drawings.
  • Must be physically able to: Climb ladders and stairs, and work in small, restricted areas.
  • Lift and carry 25 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ year of experience ensuring compliant work environments in meeting quality and safety standards, enforcing safety protocols and procedures.
  • Knowledge of drawing review, scheduling systems, work order systems, inventory and various issue tracking systems.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of tube/fluid applications including GN2, GHe, hydraulics and cryogenics.
  • Experience with pneumatic systems, propellant loading and off-loading systems.
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts.

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineers to execute design concepts, provide hands-on support for ease of assembly, and support development tests.
  • Follow work instructions for mechanical/electrical installations or manufacturing assemblies.
  • Safely work with hazardous systems, containing chemicals and/or high pressure.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and compliant work environments.
