About The Position

The Lab Support Engineer will perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and cleaning of ALD equipment. This role involves system upgrades and retrofits, as well as maintenance and minor repair of facilities support equipment like pumps, chillers, gas cabinets, and abatement systems. The engineer will be responsible for gas cylinder and liquid precursor canister change-outs, creating documentation for tool maintenance procedures and checklists, and updating Work Instructions. They will also perform Design Reviews, monitor systems and parameters, and report on system performance. This position requires troubleshooting systems down to the component level, reading schematics, BOM structures, manuals, and ECNs. Collaboration with Engineering, Software, QA, and materials groups is essential. The role supports pre-installation, installation, and start-up activities of ALD deposition equipment, including Final Assembly and Test (FAT) and programming (Robotics, PLC). Additionally, the engineer will support New Product Introductions and transfers, including providing training.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electronics, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years job-related experience on semiconductor capital equipment (CVD/ALD deposition systems preferred)
  • Good understanding of mechanical, electrical and control systems
  • Vacuum assembly and leak testing experience
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs
  • Must be able to use SCBA
  • Testing digital and analog systems helpful
  • Must be willing to be on call - weekday evenings, weekends – days/nights
  • Must be able to travel domestic/international up to 30%
  • Requires the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators and face shields.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and cleans of ALD equipment
  • Perform system upgrades and retrofits
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repair on facilities support equipment such as pumps, chillers, gas cabinets and abatement systems
  • Perform gas cylinder and liquid precursor canister change out
  • Create documents for tool maintenance procedures and checklists
  • Create and update Work Instructions
  • Perform Design Reviews pre- and post-build
  • Monitor systems, support equipment and facilities parameters and report the system performance and issues
  • Electrical, Mechanical Test/troubleshoot system down to component level
  • Be able to read gas schematics, BOM structures, manuals, ECNs, etc.
  • Work in coordination with Engineering, Software, QA, materials groups, etc.
  • Support activities associated with pre-installation, installation, and start-up of ALD deposition equipment
  • Perform Final Assembly and Test (FAT)
  • Perform programming (Robotics, PLC)
  • Support New Product Introductions and transfers including providing training
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels
  • Verify the implementation of solutions
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality system
  • Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.

  • Handle hazardous, universal wastes and documentation per regulatory requirements and Eugenus’ policies and procedures.
  • Maintain required regulatory trainings in order to sign hazardous waste manifests and properly manage RCRA and Non-RCRA wastes.
