About The Position

RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, is seeking a Lab Staff Technician to provide technical support to engineering disciplines. This role involves executing tests on brake system hardware, gathering and compiling technical data, supporting engineering design changes with lab testing, producing documentation, and managing purchase orders for lab materials. The technician will also handle shipping and receiving requests and manage on-site vs. off-site storage. The position performs laboratory functions including layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying electronic or electro-mechanical devices, assemblies, subsystems, and systems. A key responsibility is maintaining the Brake Control Systems lab and equipment, ensuring calibration, maintenance, configuration control, verification testing, and inventory management. The role also involves coordinating with engineering and EH&S to ensure lab compliance with company policies, including 5S, lock-out-tag out, and safety standards. Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally may be required.

Requirements

  • AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • Engineering lab experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required

Nice To Haves

  • Laboratory experience including familiarity with typical sensors, data acquisition systems/components, wire harnesses, and basic electrical trade skills.
  • Experience with hydraulic equipment setup and test execution.
  • Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink and LabView in a test environment.
  • Experience supporting engineering activities in a lab environment.
  • Proficient communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to drive closure on tasks in a multiple constraint environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute tests on brake system hardware per test plan developed by engineering; provide feedback on test plans/execution.
  • Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data, such as laboratory or material test results.
  • Support engineering design changes with lab testing as applicable.
  • Produce drawings, test schematics, reports and engineering documentation.
  • PO creations for lab or other non-product material.
  • Shipping and receiving requests for lab and engineering.
  • On-site vs. off-site storage management.
  • Performs research and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modification or electronic or electro-mechanical devices, assemblies, subsystems, and systems.
  • Maintains Brake Control Systems lab and equipment, including calibration, maintenance, configuration control, verification testing, and inventory management.
