This job picks up specimens from designated locations throughout the institution on regularly scheduled basis. Delivers specimens to appropriate Laboratory area within specified time frame; interacts courteously and works cooperatively with others; assists with stocking supplies; and documents unacceptable specimens according to established protocol while maintaining confidentiality of patient related information.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent
None (Work Experience Required)
Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
Basic reading, writing and math skills

Responsibilities

Adheres to specimen routing procedures and policies
Follows established guidelines for specimen handling
Maintains documentation
Supports section goals & objectives

Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
Picks up specimens from designated locations throughout the institution on regularly scheduled basis.
Delivers specimens to appropriate Laboratory area within specified time frame.
Interacts courteously and works cooperatively with others.
Assists with stocking supplies.
Documents unacceptable specimens according to established protocol while maintaining confidentiality of patient related information.
