Lab Specialist
About The Position
The Lab Specialist position in the Entomology Department Kuhar Lab is responsible for applying technical knowledge to support the vegetable entomology research and Extension program. This role includes supervising wage employees and collaborating with other team members such as graduate students and postdocs. Key duties involve comprehensive lab management, including maintaining and ordering supplies, ensuring the lab's orderliness, cleanliness, and safety. Additionally, the specialist will be involved in fieldwork, assisting with data collection and processing, maintaining accurate documentation, and contributing to data analysis and report writing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Entomology; or, equivalent years of training and experience
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
Nice To Haves
- MS in Entomology
- Previous experience working in a laboratory
- Knowledge of Virginia Tech's internal systems for purchasing (HokieMart), Wage Timekeeping (Banner Time Entry), and Travel (Chrome River)
Responsibilities
