About The Position

This position is for Microbiology Lab Programs. The Laboratory Programs Intern/Extern position provides an opportunity for students enrolled in an OSF Laboratory Clinical Laboratory Science or Histotechnology program to advance their knowledge and skills to effectively operate in a laboratory environment. Performs various laboratory procedures, which may include any of the following duties: phlebotomy, labeling, receipt, assessing quality of specimens, and performing manual and automated test analysis, blood delivery, and other limited testing. Maintains a professional relationship with patients, Mission Partners, and providers.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an OSF Laboratory Medical Laboratory Science program
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and includes: 16 credits of chemistry, 16 credits of biology, and 3 credits of math
• A total of 90 semester hours of college course work minimum
• Analytical skills necessary for phlebotomy requirements, specimen preparation, and testing
• Currently enrolled in an OSF Laboratory Histotechnology program
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 including no less than 8 credits of chemistry, 8 credits of biology, 3 credits of Algebra, and 3 credits of English Composition
• Analytical skills necessary for phlebotomy requirements, specimen preparation, and testing

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of 3 months previous experience as a phlebotomist
