About The Position

SAI Gulf, LLC is seeking a hands-on Lab Prep Supervisor to lead daily laboratory preparation and support operations in LaPlace, Louisiana. The supervisor leads Lab and Prep technicians while also participating in sample preparation and laboratory work to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with safety and quality standards. SAI Gulf specializes in sampling and analyzing solid fuels, including coal, coke, and petroleum coke, and operates testing laboratories providing sample preparation and analytical services for dry bulk fuel commodities.

This is a full-time, hourly position paying $20–$25 per hour, depending on experience. The role may require overtime. Applicants are subject to pre-employment screening, which may include drug screening, a physical, reference checks, employment verification, background screening, and/or skills assessments. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of supervisory or management experience.
• Knowledge of preparation techniques and equipment.
• Familiarity with standard operating procedures and QA/QC processes.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and schedule preparation technicians.
• Assign daily work priorities to meet production timelines.
• Monitor performance and provide coaching and feedback.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and evaluations.
• Enforce standard operating procedures, policies, and safety standards.
• Perform and oversee sample preparation and labeling.
• Ensure proper equipment use and maintenance.
• Review results for accuracy and compliance.
• Troubleshoot issues and escalate them as needed.
• Ensure adherence to OSHA, CLIA, FDA, ISO, and internal standards.
• Enforce safety procedures and personal protective equipment usage.
• Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate documentation.
• Coordinate with laboratory management and other teams.
• Communicate workflow status and staffing needs.
• Support process improvement efforts.
