About The Position

The goal of this role is to manage the day-to-day operations of the technical aspects of the laboratory quality system. This individual will coordinate the activities required to meet ISO technical requirements; monitor and advise on how the system is performing; as well as distribute reports regarding performance. They will liaise with other internal Lab Quality and Technical Specialists to ensure compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Comfortable with the use of technology.
  • Ability to communicate orally, written, and via email.
  • Works well with others and supports the team where needed.
  • Must possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to accomplish daily and weekly goals as well as deal with changing testing needs requested by supervisors.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States of America.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug-screen prior to employment.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Candidate must be comfortable handling farm samples while maintaining sample integrity.
  • Candidate should have the ability to remain cognizant of surroundings, task at hand, aberrant results, potential contamination, and general data collecting practices.
  • For bio-security purposes, candidate cannot own or house any wild or domesticated avian species.
  • Candidate must adhere to a strict 72-hour quarantine period after contact with non Hubbard avian species.
  • Many tasks performed in this role may require repetitive bending, lifting, kneeling, standing, walking, and contact with live animals.

Nice To Haves

  • Less than 1 year of experience or cannot work fully independently, must show proficiency for tasks allowed to complete independently.
  • Works under direct supervision with a Level II or III DNA Monitoring Tech as they learn new role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the technical aspects of the laboratory quality system.
  • Coordinate activities required to meet ISO technical requirements.
  • Monitor and advise on system performance.
  • Distribute reports regarding performance.
  • Liaise with other internal Lab Quality and Technical Specialists to ensure compliance.
  • Keep materials organized and be aware of all birds in pen area.
  • Obtain quality blood samples with minimal stress for birds.
  • Ensure that blood samples are organized and the correct wingband is assigned to it.
  • Maintain sufficient inventory of DNA supplies to prevent work delays at farm level.
  • Responsible for the quality of work performed as well as the quality of the product produced.
  • Maintain pen, house, and own supply hygiene.
  • Identify wingband placement and change wingbands.
  • Communicate effectively with team and manager.
  • Report welfare, biosecurity, equipment, and other concerns to responsible party, team, and/or manager.
  • Follow company policy and meet established procedures regarding bio-security, animal welfare, safety, ISO, drug, and alcohol policy.
  • Take on special projects and perform all other duties as assigned by manager.
