About The Position

When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives. Responsible for the daily operations of the laboratory including both administrative duties and direct involvement in the research endeavors of the lab.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or Related Field required
  • 3-5 years related work experience required
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications.
  • May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.
  • Ability to make decisions that are guided by precedents, policies and objectives. Regularly makes decisions and recommendations on issues affecting a department or functional area.
  • Ability to address problems that are varied, requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation using direct observation, knowledge and skills based on general precedents.
  • Ability to follow precedents and procedures. May set priorities and organize work within general guidelines. Seeks assistance when confronted with difficult and/or unpredictable situations. Work progress is monitored by supervisor/manager.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
  • Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of concepts, practices and policies with the ability to use them in complex varied situations.
  • Ability to act as a team leader for small projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Results may impact the operations of one or more departments.
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Responsibilities

  • Independently responsible for the daily operations of the laboratory including both administrative duties and direct involvement in the research endeavors of the lab.
  • Coordinates and oversees the work of research personnel; implements research schedules and ensures the quality of lab procedures.
  • Remains current in the technologies used in the lab and participates in improving operations of the lab, both administratively and scientifically.
  • Recommends and implements changes.
  • Supervises, orients and trains staff; ensures compliance to lab safety guidelines and accurate record keeping.
  • May oversee lab equipment needs, inventory and the ordering of common lab supplies.
