About The Position

This role is pivotal in overseeing laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The Laboratory Manager will contribute significantly to Flagship's mission by maintaining high-quality laboratory practices that support our diverse clientele.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting.
  • Strong knowledge of GLP, FDA regulations, and CGMP standards.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience in managing lab personnel.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the purchase, installation, repair, maintenance, and calibration of all laboratory equipment in support of research programs.
  • Oversee and/or provided general facilities assistance including equipment maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and third-party relationships.
  • Contribute to forecasting and preparation of budgets for equipment purchases and maintenance.
  • Everyday organization, running and maintenance of laboratory & office facilities.
  • Create and maintain a robust and dependable preventative and corrective maintenance program such as HVAC, UPS, e-Power, utilities, etc.
  • Closely work with IT department to ensure all laboratory equipment is securely connected to the company’s server/cloud.
  • Coordinate and/or perform installation, de-installation, and modification of facility and lab equipment.
  • Ensure end-users understand installation, electrical, chemical, and biological requirements and work with appropriate vendors to complete the work.
  • Respond to equipment failures and other emergencies in an appropriate manner.
  • Operates and maintains custodial functions.
  • Ensures security and emergency preparedness procedures are implemented properly.
  • Conducts and documents regular facilities inspections.
  • Responsible for the physical and administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing and distributing of materials, parts, supplies and equipment.
  • Unpacks and checks goods received against purchase orders or invoices, maintains records of received goods and rejects unsatisfactory items as necessary.
  • Oversee and lead the day-to-day operations of the labs ensuring operation efficiency, organization, and safety of employees.
  • Oversight of inventory and on-site vendor programs to ensure proper inventory management and cost control.
  • Monitor of specialty gases and dry ice to ensure proper delivery in support of research programs.
  • Oversee and perform glassware washing and sterilization functions for lab personnel.
  • Inventory management of cryobase/LN2 tank system.
  • Point person to maintain and monitor Rees lab equipment alarm system.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor department’s operating budget.
  • Maintain timelines, stay on budget, and maintain a positive lab morale.
  • Interface with consultants and other internal staff to implement current best practices for safety requirement.
  • Organize and maintain EHS protocols, records & reports, prepare for inspections, ensure that employees receive proper safety training, and maintain training records.
  • Ensure safe handling of chemical and biological waste materials including ordering waste pickups, maintain waste logs, and filing necessary paperwork.
