About The Position

The Frank H. Netter School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University invites applications for a Laboratory Manager to support the scientific and operational needs of a collaborative, multi–principal investigator research laboratory. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to innovative biomedical research while overseeing the day-to-day management of a shared academic laboratory environment. The Laboratory Manager will work closely with faculty investigators, students, and trainees to advance the laboratory’s research and educational mission through a diverse range of scientific approaches, including molecular biology and biochemical techniques, tissue culture, and translational research models. In addition to actively participating in research experiments, the successful candidate will oversee laboratory operations, including equipment and facility maintenance, inventory and supply management, regulatory compliance, and supervision of student researchers. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, biomedical sciences, or a closely related scientific field required.
  • Experience working effectively in teams and individually.
  • Knowledge of laboratory operations, safety standards, and research compliance procedures is strongly desired.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by written and verbal communication.
  • Awareness of impact of self on others and commitment to personal growth.
  • Ability to meet goals and accomplish tasks with a high level of detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist faculty in conducting experiments using knowledge of relevant molecular biology techniques and translational models.
  • Ensure that the physical and environmental conditions are appropriate for the research being performed and that it provides a safe environment that protects investigators from physical and chemical hazards.
  • Prepare the laboratory for safety inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, state and federal laws.
  • Maintain the overall laboratory organization and inventory, order and prepare laboratory chemical stocks and reagents, supplies, and consumable materials.
  • Maintain familiarity with the operation of and maintenance of laboratory equipment and work with instrument vendors and facilities for repair.
  • Serve as a liaison between the laboratory and other university departments.
  • Participate in the delivery of laboratory educational programs.
  • Attend weekly lab meetings.
  • Oversee management of the vivarium and animal facilities.
  • Work with the Associate Dean for Scholarship and Director of Finance, to monitor the annual laboratory budget as well as service contracts for the lab.
  • Other duties as assigned.
