About The Position

This is a temporary (fixed term) full-time Lab Manager position within the Forensic Science department at Loyola University Maryland. The role involves supporting laboratory instruction through the procurement, preparation, and maintenance of materials and equipment. The Lab Manager will collaborate with faculty to prepare reagents and gather equipment, maintain the cleanliness of lab spaces, coordinate work-study students for lab preparation and cleanup, manage a chemical inventory, and oversee the storage and disposal of biological and chemical waste with EHS. Duties may vary throughout the role, and non-essential duties may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • BS in Forensic Science, Biology, Chemistry or related discipline
  • Experience preparing solutions, using microscopes and balances in a general laboratory setting.
  • Less than 12 months of work experience.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States and complete employment eligibility verification by the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Procurement, preparation and maintenance of materials and equipment to support laboratory instruction.
  • Work with faculty to arrange for preparation of reagents and gathering and arranging of equipment for all lab courses.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of prep-lab, instructional labs, and storage areas in collaboration with faculty members and work-study students.
  • Coordinate efforts of work-study students to assist with preparation of labs and clean-up of teaching and preparatory lab spaces.
  • Develop and maintain a chemical inventory.
  • Coordinate the storage and disposal of biological and chemical waste with EHS.
