About The Position

The RRL (Rapid Response Lab) Manager has the overall responsibility for the planning, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of all technical and/or operational activities and staff members in the multiple regional laboratories. Responsible for performing duties so as to operate the lab with the highest quality safety and integrity, and in an efficient, economical and businesslike manner are of utmost importance. This position is client facing and requires professionalism as well as the ability to create and maintain a positive relationship with key stakeholders. This individual must possess both lab leadership skills along with Orchard LIS proficiency.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of medical laboratory experience with at least 4 years of direct supervisory experience in the clinical or anatomical pathology laboratory.
  • Must have Orchard/Clinisys laboratory information solution (LIS) diagnostic informatics system software experience.
  • Knowledge CLIA/CAP regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory operations, including workflow, staffing models, and quality control principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing supervisors and or team leads.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Serves as a key liaison between the laboratory supervisors, senior leadership, and other departments (e.g., Commercial, logistics, IT and onsite clients).
  • Must have previous leadership experience in leading teams.
  • Computer proficiency with systems such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Powerpoint, etc.).
  • Bachelor's Degree or high in a Life Sciences major.

  • Supervisory experience – lead a team of clinical technicians.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with medical professionals daily.
  • Master's Degree.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, assigns, and directs work in the laboratory.
  • Serves as liaison with other areas as needed.
  • Mentors and supports direct reports, i.e. Supervisors, QA Specialists and Safety Coordinators in their responsibilities and functions, ensuring they receive training in supervisory skill development.
  • Identifies and implements training programs as necessary.
  • Defines, coordinates, and monitors quality assurance programs and supervises activities of the Quality Assurance Specialist.
  • Ensures quality control and compliance procedures are followed and QC reports are up to date.
  • Oversee plans and preparations for inspections.
  • Oversees staffing of all personnel in the laboratory.
  • Effectively maintains quality staffing by interviewing, hiring, training and providing staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling.
  • The manager leads the establishment of new laboratory sites, managing the entire process from initial setup and instrument validation to staffing and the creation of operational procedures. This includes overseeing all regulatory requirements to ensure the successful and compliant launch of the new facility.
  • Reviews test performance, drives process and project management, and prepares and submits required reports to meet established deadlines.
  • Manages test database.
  • Ensures departmental standard operating procedures and database accurately reflects the current process.
  • Coordinates R&D activities as it relates to operations and actively participates on subspecialty committees, corporate committees, and business unit committees as needed.
  • Develops annual budget and manages department costs and resources budget.
  • Resolves problems through interaction with clients via phone calls quickly.
  • Defines, coordinates and monitors Environmental Health and Safety programs.
  • Department Safety Coordinator.
  • Ensures EHS regulatory standards and safety procedures are followed.
  • Oversees plans and preparations for inspections.
