About The Position

The Skilled Trades Lab Instructor supports hands-on training in HVAC, Electrical, and Mechatronics programs by helping ensure lab environments are safe, organized, and fully equipped. Working under the guidance of instructors and project managers, the Lab Instructor prepares lab materials, assists students during technical practice, and maintains tools and equipment to facilitate effective learning. This is a support position without supervisory responsibilities or independent policy-making authority.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of hands-on experience in a skilled trade environment, such as a lab, field, or training setting.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools, equipment, and technology.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to student success and maintaining a safe learning environment.

Nice To Haves

• Technical diploma or associate’s degree in HVAC, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lab stations, tools, and equipment before each training session.
• Provide students with hands-on support during labs under the direction of lead instructors.
• Help ensure compliance with safety standards, including PPE use and proper handling of tools and materials.
• Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of lab equipment.
• Track, organize, and replenish supplies, consumables, and instructional materials.
• Maintain clean, safe, and functional lab spaces.
• Assist instructors and project managers with special projects and program needs.
• Follow institutional policies and procedures, including timekeeping and reporting requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support program and operational needs.
