This position is for a Lab Helper in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill University. Requirements

• Laboratory safety and biosafety training required- or must be willing to take this training if not already certified.
• Strong attention to detail, organized, detail-oriented, reliable and able to manage time effectively.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Able to follow procedures and instructions.
• Must be authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in the province of Quebec.
• High School Diploma
• 1 Year Related Experience

Nice To Haves

• McGill Undergraduate students in biomedical sciences programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in performing laboratory tests and experiments such as PCR reactions and agarose gels
• Washing glassware
• Autoclaving
• Refilling plastics as needed (tips, eppendorf tubes...)
• Keeping the lab plastic inventory up to date
• Keeping the lab work areas clean and orderly
• Bringing lab biohazard waste to waste disposal room
• Preparing plates for bacterial growth
