About The Position

The Laboratory Generalist III receives and prepares samples for laboratory analysis and tests, sets up instruments, runs tests and reads, interprets, and releases results. This role requires proficiency in at least three clinical areas including Hematology, and involves performing and analyzing results for Total Parasite PCR panels and other non-PCR tests. The position also includes processing samples, preparing them for send-out, performing required quality control, and training in various laboratory areas such as Specimen Processing, Chemistry, Serology, UA, Coag, and Parasitology. The Generalist III will oversee the entering and releasing of results, be responsible for specific tests like Chemistry – Olympus, T4-Olympus, CBC-Advia, Progesterone, PT, PTT, Platelet count, Reticulocytes, UA and Parasitology PCR, and building hematology and UA loads. Participation in departmental training programs, reconciling the pending list, and potentially contributing to enterprise initiatives and special projects are also part of the role. Associates are expected to uphold ethical conduct and hold each other accountable to the organization's values and standards, including asking questions, seeking guidance, and reporting concerns.

Requirements

  • Proficient in at least three clinical areas including Hematology.
  • Associates/Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or Degree in a related field with a minimum of 1 year clinical laboratory experience in Hematology.

  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other lab equipment accurately and efficiently.
  • Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch.
  • May be required to lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Heavy microscopic work.
  • The ability to observe details at close range.
  • Proficiency in the English language which allows for participation in team meetings, accurate entry of data into company systems and understanding of written directions.
  • Work under close to moderate supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree or experience in Molecular Biology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tests such as Chemistry – Olympus, T4-Olympus, CBC-Advia, Progesterone, PT, PTT, Platelet count, Reticulocytes, UA and Parasitology PCR.
  • Build hematology and UA loads.
  • Participate in all departmental training programs.
  • Reconcile pending list.
  • May be asked to participate in enterprise initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
