About The Position

The Lab Courier picks up and delivers documents, mail, packages, laboratory specimens, equipment, materials, supplies, and other items within the organization and to institutional clients. The role ensures deliveries are timely, safe, and accurate and requires flexibility, reliability, and organization. The courier must be able to operate vehicles in all weather and driving conditions.

The position represents Corewell Health professionally, follows traffic laws and Department of Transportation standards and training, and provides excellent customer service. The courier responds to urgent dispatch requests based on business and customer needs and uses technology to support customer service.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Excellent driving record.
• Michigan chauffeur license, required upon hire.
• Michigan driver's license, required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Safely pick up and deliver documents, mail, packages, laboratory specimens, equipment, materials, supplies, and other items from appropriate locations in a timely manner.
• Abide by traffic laws and Department of Transportation standards and training.
• Represent Corewell Health professionally and uphold its values of compassion, collaboration, courage, and curiosity.
• Follow appropriate protocols and procedures when accidents or incidents occur.
• Follow the guide books in each vehicle and notify leadership immediately as needed.
• Interact professionally with clients and provide excellent customer service.
• Bring client service problems to the supervisor's attention.
• Maintain and complete the daily log.
• Prepare the vehicle for the next route by filling the gas tank and returning keys and equipment to the designated area.
• Keep vehicles clean, organized, and ready for the next driver.
• Advise the supervisor of repair needs.
• Use technology to provide services to customers.
• Respond to urgent dispatch requests based on business and customer needs.
