About The Position

The Shaw Center for Children & Families is seeking a highly organized, collaborative, and motivated Lab Coordinator to support an NIH-funded international research study focused on maternal mental health and positive parenting in Lima, Peru. This full-time (30 hours/week) position plays a central role in coordinating a randomized clinical trial under the direction of Laura Miller-Graff. The Lab Coordinator will work closely with multidisciplinary and multilingual teams in both the United States and Peru, supporting study implementation, data management, and community partnerships. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about psychology research, global mental health, and community-engaged work with mothers and young children experiencing adversity.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of relevant research or project coordination experience
  • Strong interest in psychology research, data management, and global mental health
  • Advanced or native Spanish proficiency (required)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • High level of professionalism and cross-cultural competency
  • Strong problem-solving and project management abilities
  • Enthusiasm for collaborative, team-based work environments

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor study protocols and day-to-day research activities
  • Track participant progress in collaboration with the implementing team in Lima, Peru
  • Support NIH reporting requirements and maintain accurate project documentation
  • Communicate with the Institutional Review Board (IRB) regarding protocols, amendments, and renewals
  • Maintain detailed records of team decisions, processes, and study updates
  • Provide regular progress reports and updates to the Principal Investigator
  • Monitor incoming data to ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness
  • Oversee transcription, coding, and data entry for observational parent-child interaction data
  • Develop and implement training protocols for research staff and students
  • Support undergraduate and graduate researchers in achieving reliability in coding procedures
  • Assist in training and management of project interviewers and research staff
  • Identify training needs and support ongoing staff development
  • Facilitate strong communication across international and interdisciplinary teams
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and project management activities
  • Provide live translation and interpretation support for team members as needed
  • Support bilingual communication between U.S.-based and Peru-based teams
  • Promote culturally responsive practices in research implementation and communication
  • Collaborate with community partners and service organizations in Lima, Peru
  • Support coordination of on-site research activities and trainings
  • Travel to Lima (~5%) to strengthen partnerships and ensure successful project implementation
