The Laboratory Coordinator leads and participates in quality assurance, performance improvement, laboratory education, new employee training and coordinating efforts within their assigned area. Oversees non-technical areas within laboratory operations. This may include but is not limited to; billing, inventory management, quality, outreach. Promotes professionalism and interacts with colleagues in a way that promotes a cooperative working environment. Displays expertise necessary to ensure optimal laboratory operations. Demonstrate proper communication skills to relate pertinent data or information related to the job duties assigned. Supports organizational priorities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Exhibits problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and evaluate opportunities within the laboratory. Able to prioritize and organize workload and assist other coworkers to maintain productivity. Promotes consensus building and applies techniques of conflict resolution and conduct improvement. Retains accountability for quality of care given to the patient. Promotes service excellence and growth of the laboratory. May work with multiple departments within the laboratory or across the hospital/health system, including all of the Utica Park and Oklahoma Heart Institute Clinics. Responsible for technical and scientific oversight for physician office laboratories. Selects test methodology appropriate for the clinical use of the test menu. Verifies test procedures performed and establishes the lab’s performance criteria and documentation manuals. Enrolls labs in an approved PT program commensurate with services offered. Establishes a QC/QA program appropriate for testing performed and establishes the parameter for acceptable levels of analytic performance. Resolves technical problems and ensures remedial actions are taken as needed. Ensures testing personnel receive initial and ongoing in-service training.
