About The Position

Looking for a motivated professional to join our Lab Design and Build Team. Able to learn and carry-out a wide variety of tasks, requiring mechanical and electrical fabrication, assembly and test skills to support lab operations. As a Lab Build Technician you will be tasked with assembling cable harnesses designed for integration into our software development labs here in Owego, NY. Our wire harnesses are built to print with no work instructions provided. Upon completion of the wire harnesses they are continuity tested then installed into our sound enclosures and commercial equipment racks which makeup the software development benches.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints and bill of materials.
  • Good mechanical/assembly skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of various types of computer and software programs.
  • Ability to work under general supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to change in priority or design.
  • Strong communication (technically) and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated to carry out daily tasks.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of IPC – 610, IPC – 620 & IPC – 630.
  • Must be able to utilize an assortment of hand tools (cutters, crimpers, etc.), multimeters, wires strippers, along with various other tooling/equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, schematics, blueprints, etc.
  • Good dexterity and experience working with small pieces of hardware.
  • Basic knowledge of electronic principles.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to be a focused self-starter and work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assembling cable harnesses designed for integration into software development labs.
  • Building wire harnesses to print with no work instructions provided.
  • Continuity testing completed wire harnesses.
  • Installing wire harnesses into sound enclosures and commercial equipment racks.
  • Carrying out a wide variety of tasks requiring mechanical and electrical fabrication, assembly, and test skills to support lab operations.
  • Performing continuity on peer work.
  • Keeping up on training.
