About The Position

Looking for a laboratory opportunity with a great schedule, strong team environment, and work-life balance? Join our high-volume outpatient laboratory as a Lab Associate I! In this role, you’ll support daily laboratory operations while providing a positive experience for patients and helping the team keep things running smoothly. Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. The campus features a park-like setting with landscaping and a walking path that winds through the grounds and connects to Millennium Park.

Requirements

• Previous experience is required
• Phlebotomy experience
• Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced, high-volume outpatient laboratory
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and teamwork
• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Experience: No Experience
• Supervisor Experience: No Experience

Nice To Haves

• <2 years experience
• < 2 years supervisor experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Phlebotomy certification

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy in a high-volume outpatient setting
• Transcribe paper orders accurately
• Stock and maintain laboratory supplies
• Support the team with day-to-day laboratory operations
• Perform phlebotomy, positive patient identification, and positive patient interaction, proper collection and specimen integrity.
• Coordinates a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuation in workload, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
• Interacts with lab, clinical and other ancillary departments.
