This non-licensed position is accountable for assisting with general support for the laboratory, following all applicable policies and procedures. The role involves preparing and organizing samples, labeling, handling, processing, and transporting specimens. It also includes preparing testing equipment, assisting with preventive maintenance, and notifying technical staff of equipment issues. The associate will assist licensed personnel or delegated supervisors in pre-analytic and post-analytic testing activities, prepare pre-analytical reagents and controls, and maintain accurate records of reagents and media. Inventory management of consumables, reagents, and supplies is also a key part of the role, including ordering, unpacking, logging, dating, and storing received items. The position requires sorting and accessioning incoming specimens, performing data entry, and tallying workload data. Assisting with quality control procedures, preparing protocols/logs, and resolving specimen problems are also responsibilities. The role includes answering phones, maintaining client confidentiality, ensuring laboratory cleanliness, and complying with health and safety policies, including the use of personal protective equipment. Other duties as assigned may be part of the role, which is a general description of work performed.
