About The Position
Provides phlebotomy expertise, decision making, and problem solving skills based on in-depth knowledge of phlebotomy procedures. Performs the collection, receipt in computer, processing, and delivery of patient specimens for tests performed by the laboratory.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an approved phlebotomy training program or one year of proven experience in Hospital, Reference, or Physician Office Lab required.
- Exceptional customer service skills and proficiency in utilization of personal computer skills.
- Position requires frequent prolonged standing/walking.
- Requires occasional lifting of supplies/equipment up to 25 lbs.
- There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person, continuously exhibiting manual dexterity and mobility; frequently reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching; continuous ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less, to judge distance and space relationships; to bring objects into focus; and to distinguish and identify different colors.
- Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
- Minimal noise levels.
- Much exposure to computer work.
- Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.
- Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks.
- Some exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- Occasional exposure to radiation.
- Travel between facilities as required.
