About The Position
The role of the Laboratory Assistant reports to the Director of Laboratory. This position is responsible for providing support for Medical Laboratory Technicians and Medical Laboratory Scientists and performs duties under the supervision of a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-year medical laboratory assistant experience is preferred
Nice To Haves
- Laboratory Assistant and Phlebotomy Certification, preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform specimen processing functions for the Core Lab and/or Microbiology departments which includes centrifugation and aliquoting of specimens, gram staining and culture set-ups
- Load analyzers and perform maintenance
- Perform waived and rapid kit testing
- Assist with send out specimen processing
- Provide phlebotomy support, as needed
