About The Position

Wilson Health is seeking a PRN Lab Assistant/Phlebotomy professional for its Laboratory Services department in Sidney, Ohio. This role involves interpreting orders, preparing patients and specimens, and entering data into the Laboratory Information System. The lab is accredited by the ACHC and holds a CLIA Certificate, performing a range of tests including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank testing. The position requires flexibility in hours and shifts, including weekend and holiday rotations.

Requirements

Formal phlebotomy training with certification or comparable program certification (ex. Medical Office Assisting) which includes phlebotomy training.
Must be able to respond to emergencies during off-hours.

Responsibilities

Collects venous and capillary blood specimens, and nasal swabs.
Interacts with and performs standard specimen collection procedures effectively on neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, understanding and reacting effectively to their individual and unique needs.
Communicates with reference laboratory.
Maintains supply of specimen collection and processing materials.
Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of phlebotomy work areas and equipment such as workbenches, specimen collection trays, refrigerators and storage sites.
Collates, routes and distributes reports and other correspondence and materials as required.
Interprets orders and specimen or test preparation requirements.
Instructs patients or nursing staff.
Prepares requisitions.
Monitors orders for specimen collection.
Enters orders and other data into Laboratory Information System.
