About The Position

The Lab Assistant II performs routine technical and clerical functions, including specimen registration and billing, receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens, and phlebotomy duties as assigned. The role performs CLIA-waived laboratory testing and assists with microbiology specimen processing and plating as requested.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of laboratory experience and/or completion of a formal phlebotomy training program.
• Phlebotomy certification where required by state law.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a phlebotomy program.
• Basic laboratory computer or laboratory information system experience.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine technical and clerical functions, including specimen registration and billing.
• Receive and distribute laboratory specimens.
• Perform phlebotomy duties as assigned.
• Perform waived laboratory testing as requested.
• Assist with microbiology processing and plating specimens as requested.
