About The Position

The Lab Application Specialist Tier 1 is responsible for high-level technical and application training to Copan’s customers. The primary focus of this position is to assist on-site customer installations, contributing to the development and implementation of training programs, and developing technical communications and change management initiatives for the Copan Automation (WASP, Universe, WASPLab) and Liquid Based Microbiology (LBM) in the US and Canada. This position reports to the US Lab Application Manager.

  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant work experience in a clinical laboratory setting or as an application specialist with molecular experience
  • Knowledge of workflow aspects related to laboratory system implementation
  • Coordination of training rotations and schedules to achieve operator cross-training
  • Superior project management abilities, leading conference calls, teaching, motivational, and organizational skills with a proven track record of accomplishments.
  • Knowledge and experience in technical and application support.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive user training on Copan Automation to customer competency, optimal utilization, and self-sufficiency.
  • During installations, the Application Specialist may be required to be at the site of the installation for up to 10 weeks (Monday through Friday).
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the application of the COPAN instruments and software by uncovering customers’ needs, implementing customized solutions, and facilitating rapid adoption.
  • Collaborates effectively with Field Service to enhance customer experience.
  • Drives the implementation process and optimal utilization of the COPAN automation.
  • Conducts product demonstrations, while promoting product value to support the sales of COPAN automated platforms at trade shows, workshops, and customer sites as needed.
  • Assists regional sales associates during the implementation of WASP and WASPLab.
  • Contributes to laboratory workflow productivity by maximizing the efficiency of the product training.
  • Routinely checks in with the customer to ensure that the configuration of COPAN’s automation is optimal and that customers are running QC procedures properly.
  • Work with the sales team to ensure maximum utilization of COPAN products (i.e., ESwab, FecalSwab, and broths etc.).
  • Work with the sales team and customer for ESwab, FecalSwab, and LBM validations and implementation.
