About The Position

The Lab Analyst is part of the site Technology Group at INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA’s Battleground Manufacturing Complex in La Porte, Texas, and reports to the Shift Team Leader. The role uses standard analytical methods to provide prompt, accurate testing of flake and pellets for conformance to quality specifications, operational process control, special customer requirements, troubleshooting, and improvement projects.

The position works rotating 12-hour shifts, alternating between days and nights, with some overtime required. It supports product quality and manufacturing operations through routine testing, laboratory data recording, equipment monitoring and maintenance, and adherence to safety, quality, housekeeping, and statistical process control practices. An Emergency Care Attendant certification and function is required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least 2 years of laboratory or operations experience in a chemical plant, refinery, or gas processing plant, or successful completion of a 2-year Associate Degree in Chemical or Process Technology.
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, alternating between days and nights, with some overtime required.
• Ability to understand general laboratory analytical techniques and practices.
• Problem-solving and judgment skills.
• Performance delivery, technical and functional skills, and priority-setting ability.
• Ability to anticipate problems and adjust accordingly.
• Ability to make timely, effective decisions consistently.
• Ability to pick up objects weighing 50 pounds, such as polymer samples or a fire extinguisher.
• Ability to walk or stand for extended periods while performing job tasks.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with e-mail, SAP, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience using personal protective equipment.
• Experience following safety procedures, including OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety and personal protective equipment rules and actively promote safety through activities such as behavior-based safety, audits, committee meetings, improvement reports, job safety analyses, and inspections.
• Understand, promote, and uphold the INEOS 20 Principles and follow the INEOS Group Life Saving Rules.
• Complete regular cybersecurity training and awareness campaigns.
• Perform routine testing to determine product quality status according to the product specification system.
• Perform routine testing to support unit production and process control according to inline testing schedules or manufacturing-unit requests.
• Perform routine testing to assist with overflow work from the Analytical/Product Development Laboratory as resources permit.
• Enter data accurately in the LIMS system and record test results legibly on designated forms.
• Analyze monitor samples and maintain equipment monitor records in accordance with the monitor policy.
• Continuously clean the laboratory and equipment and maintain required housekeeping standards.
• Apply statistical process control rules to laboratory test results to ensure the measurement system remains in statistical control.
• Maintain certification and function as an Emergency Care Attendant.
• Promote quality goals and demonstrate attention to quality in job performance.
• Check testing equipment operation, troubleshoot problems, perform routine preventive maintenance, and notify the Shift Team Leader of abnormalities or maintenance needs.
• Initiate documentation in accordance with the equipment maintenance policy.
• Schedule work to meet priorities.
• Perform job tasks professionally using good housekeeping practices and proper laboratory technique.
• Participate as required in quality excellence teams or quality work teams to improve systems.
• Work as part of the laboratory team to achieve organizational goals.
