About The Position

The Lab Analyst I - GC Semi Volatiles position is responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures. This role involves operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, preparing samples, and analyzing data. The analyst will ensure that all tests are conducted accurately and efficiently, adhering to strict quality control standards and safety protocols. This position plays a crucial role in delivering reliable and accurate analytical results to clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related scientific field.
  • Experience with Gas Chromatography (GC) instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with semi-volatile organic compound analysis.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and practices.
  • Ability to follow detailed technical procedures and protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in an environmental testing laboratory.
  • Experience with other analytical techniques.
  • Familiarity with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine laboratory analyses using Gas Chromatography (GC) for semi-volatile compounds.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain GC instrumentation and associated equipment.
  • Prepare samples, reagents, and standards according to established procedures.
  • Analyze and interpret analytical data, ensuring accuracy and precision.
  • Document all laboratory activities, including sample tracking, test results, and instrument maintenance.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, laboratory policies, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with instrumentation and analytical methods.
  • Participate in method validation and development as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues regarding sample status and results.
