About The Position

Currently registered undergraduate student strongly interested in working in a neuroscience research lab. Must be comfortable with handling of laboratory mice, possess good organization and communication skills, and able to perform basic lab calculations to make solutions and reagents. Must be able to work in a 3-4 hour block of time between 9am and 7pm on weekdays (up to 10 hours/week). Under direct supervision, provides routine assistance in the performance of laboratory tests and/or research. Cleans, breaks down, and stores laboratory facilities, equipment, and supplies as appropriate, and may keep routine records and reports on laboratory results according to established procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of transgenic mouse colony, including tail and ear clipping, and preparing genomic DNA for PCR genotyping.
  • Making and autoclaving solutions, placing orders, etc.
  • Depending on the ability and research interest of the student, there may be an opportunity to get involved in research projects in the future.
  • Cleans, breaks down, and stores laboratory facilities, equipment, and supplies as appropriate.
  • Keeps routine records and reports on laboratory results according to established procedures.
