Lab Aide (Phlebotomist)
About The Position
As a PRN - Relief Lab Aide (Phlebotomist) in Cortez, you’ll help keep patient care moving fast and safely by collecting high-quality specimens and supporting accurate lab testing. You’ll jump into a steady rhythm: greeting patients, double-checking identifiers, and keeping everything organized from the moment an order comes in. Between draws, you’ll stay sharp on timing, labeling, and documentation, coordinating smoothly with the lab team when priorities change. Expect a mix of quick turns and calm reassurance—helping nervous patients feel at ease while you build confidence, speed, and precision with every PRN shift.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current BLS CPR certification
- Communicate effectively in English (additional languages preferred)
- Strong customer service, communication, and basic computer skills
Nice To Haves
- Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary/skin punctures efficiently and correctly
- Understand test requirements and assist the Clinical Laboratory as needed
- Collect specimens for blood cultures, bleeding time testing, and routine blood samples
- Complete patient/specimen registration in line with hospital policy
